So far, in our human experience, we are experiencing just glimpses of God, His person, His grace, power, and mercy. Most of what we learn about Him is in His Word. In Heaven it will be different. We will be able to experience His fullness. Don’t you look forward to that? It will be wonderful! No, it will be more than that. Our vocabulary will need to be rebuilt to describe the manifestation of God.
God dwells in Heaven: “Hear the supplication of your servant and of your people Israel when they pray toward this place. Hear from heaven, your dwelling place, and when you hear, forgive. 1 Kings 8:30.”The Bible tells us that God is everywhere, so it would not be a big surprise to find out that God is in Heaven.
Heaven is where His throne is located. When we read what John wrote in the book of Revelation the first person identified in Heaven is God. Here is the text: “ Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing in the center of the throne, encircled by the four living creatures and the elders. He had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth. He came and took the scroll from the right hand of him who sat on the throne. Rev. 5: 6-7.”
That means the whole Trinity will be there.
A – The Father
The Father will be there, even though we will not be able to see Him. Jesus made clear that the Father was in Heaven: “At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Matthew 11:25.”In the Lord’s Prayer, Jesus made clear that the Father is in Heaven: “This, then, is how you should pray:” ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, Matthew 6:9.”
B – The Holy Spirit
The other person of the Trinity that will be there is the Holy Spirit. We also will not be able to see Him. In the text that we cited above we have John describing Jesus, the Lamb of God, and His Spirit. This is how he described Him: “He had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth. Vr.6.” In another place he writes: “The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life. Revelation 22:17.”
C – The Son, Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ, the Son of God also will be there. He is the manifestation of God, the image of God. He is the One that we will see there. The Bible makes clear that Jesus is in Heaven, and will be there to welcome us. “For Christ did not enter a man-made sanctuary that was only a copy of the true one; he entered heaven itself, now to appear for us in God’s presence. Hebrews 9:24.”Peter confirms this statement in his letter, “who has gone into heaven and is at God’s right hand–with angels, authorities and powers in submission to him. 1 Peter 3:22.”
When Stephen was about to be stoned to death because of his testimony, something extraordinary happened. This is how Luke in the Book of Acts tells us: “But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God.“Look,” he said, “I see heaven open and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of GodActs 7:55-56.”Some people believe that Jesus was standing to welcome Stephen in Heaven. Yes, Jesus will be there to welcome His children home.
Have a blessed week,
